Course Description:
This award comprises 7 modules, 6 tutor led modules and 1 placement module aimed to prepare students with a high degree of conceptual and case based learning supported through practical situations. These sessions are aimed at enabling student to effectively deliver good, safe, person-centred, quality care to client / patients.
This qualification has been designed to provide a comprehensive core programme of learning and assessment for health and care workers. It is aimed at staff and volunteers or any other individual who may not have other qualifications in the field but who aims to achieve the entry level to work in this industry.
Course Overview:
Every Module will be divided in 4 individual sessions.

Learning Outcomes:
Learning Outcomes for Knowledge obtained at the end of the programme:
The learner will be able to:
- Follow the objectives/framework and all their roles and responsibilities.
- Practice self reflection and the identification of personal skill and knowledge gaps as part of the personal professional development
- Practice in ways that respect client / patient individual’s autonomy, dignity irrespective of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion and culture.
- Prepare health care records (client / patient notes) in a concise, legible, and appropriate manner while providing accurate and updated information about every client / patient
- Practise actively listen techniques to ensure understanding of communication passed on between different stakeholders
- Monitor personal care functions, parameters (within the scope of the role covered) and activities and accurately document improvements / deteriorations
- Practice professional skills when discussing care plans and suggest changes based on observations and client / patient feedback.
- Apply principle of non-verbal communication to understand one’s potential body language impact on others in challenging situation
- Prepare an incident report highlighting the incident and the approach taken to control the situation.
- Use self-reflection on own role in an incident of challenging behaviour to can improve approach taken
- Support the patients / clients in maintaining independence and in making informed choices about the services offered.
- Use charting to monitor and ensure that patients / client are taking a well-balanced diet
- Demonstrate ability to choose and use the appropriate PPE according to the assessed risk to come in contact with infectious material (blood, body fluids, non intact skin etc)
- Apply the right disposal method (in line with organisational / national policy) when disposing waste contaminated with blood, body fluids, secretions, and excretions
- Design tools (questionnaires) that collate feedback to support the
delivery of person centred care in line with roles and responsibilities. (Client / Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire)
- Show how to support an individual to question or challenge
decisions concerning them that are made by others.
- Practice excellent communication skills that are non – judgemental and have respect for equality and diversity
- Practice compassionate, competent, and confident healthcare, care provision with the values and behaviours expected of a healthcare worker in full respect of client / patient safely.
Demonstrate knowledge of outbreaks management policies and procedures.

Admission Requirements:
- Aged 18+ Upon Entry
- Communicate using oral and written English
- Basic knowledge of IT – ability to use a web browser.
- MQF/EQF Level 3 recognised qualification in health and social care or equivalent
- Clean Police Conduct
- Copy of ID Card or Passport
